Luke's Angels are a Minneapolis band, but they are the sweethearts of Saint Paul. Their new album "Paulopolis" seeks to heal the long time divide between these rival cities with charm and chugging rock.
This unpretentious indie rock quartet has drawn comparisons to the Breeders and Throwing Muses, but they're not just an early 90's alt sister rock knock off. LA has a sound all their own - the music is genuine and their personalities shine through.
Luke's Angels features Dr. Jennie Kalpin DDS, Professor Melissa Kalpin MLS, Jennie's husband Josh Richardson (also of luke Crystals and Prairie Restorations Inc.) and legendary drummer Nick Hook (Kelley Deal 6000, Deformo, Jan, Vinnie and the Stardusters, Hind Quarterly editor-in-chief.)
"...Luke's Angels has a '90s alt-rock vibe that makescomparisons to acts like Throwing Muses inevitable but worthwhile; thegroup does an excellent job of weaving crunchy rock and melodious girlypop together and getting the best out of both."
"...Sisters Jennie and Melissa Kalpin weave their frictionlessharmonies as if from a satin loom, while Nick Hook lays on enoughsyncopated hi-hat to make the metronomic, Petty-esque guitar linesexcellent dance floor material..."
